Tempers flare after Stack-Manu collide

The intensity of this rivalry boiled over late in the third – it seems to happen at some point every time these teams meet – when Jerry Stackhouse and Manu Ginobili locked horns and fell to the court in a heap.

They were each assessed fouls, but the Mavs were also hit with technicals on Stackhouse and then on Avery Johnson. The Spurs finished the quarter with a 23-4 run to take a 65-58 lead going into the fourth.

The sequence was vintage Ginobili in Stackhouse’s view.

“He flails and falls and does a whole lot of B.S. throughout the course of the game, and it’s always the second guy who gets called,” said Stackhouse, who was ejected late in the fourth. “I think that was what they saw. It’s nothing new with him.”

Stack's wrong on this one. The only flailing that occurred was when Stachkhouse cow-tied Ginobili and pulled him to the ground.

Hey Stackhouse,

When you seem to get thrown out of different games for the same thing, maybe the problem is you and not the others players. I like Stackhouse, but sometimes he is just a head case. He needs to stay under control.

Stack was clearly the aggressor here; replays also show him pushing / pinching Ginobili's neck while down and attempting to stand. Stack's microcephalic condition obviously gets the best of him when clear, concise thoughts and actions are required. Definitely a talent but not someone you want making decisions. However, it is good to see him back in the starting lineup. He's one on the few players on the team that plays with heart.

Manu boxed Stack out with an elbow to the throat. And he elbowed Dirk in the face earlier in the game. Manu didn't react to how Jerry handled him because he knew he was the one that initiated it.

I know it shouldn't happen, but I was happy to see Stack smash Ginobili's face to the ground to stand up; that guy gets away with alot. Jerry is the wrong guy to throw an elbow at- the refs may let it slide, but he won't- and I'm glad he's on our team.

liz, you can't box out someone by putting your elbow in his throat. It wouldn't work that way. Manu's elbow to Dirk was inadvertant. Yeah, Stack is tired of Ginobili. Tired of Manu beating him every time they play.

Watch the game again and see where Manu's elbow went: I agree it shouldn't work that way, but if that's the way Manu wants to play, I think he understands he'll have to deal with the consequences of his actions. See you in the Playoffs, Manu! Don't foul next time! =)

Good of you anonymous to make fun of a girl that seems to know more about the game than you do. Go suck Ginobili a little bit more; TP's mouth is full.
